CFTools

Citadel no longer uses CFTools. If you are here from an older guide, a bookmark or a search result, this page tells you what replaced it.

There is nothing to authorize, no grant to approve, and no CFTools subscription to keep for Citadel's sake. If you use CFTools for your own reasons, keep it — it simply is not part of how Citadel talks to your server.

What replaced it

Everything now comes from @CitadelAdmin, our own server-side mod. On a rented host the mod talks to us itself (cloud.json). On your own machine the Citadel Server Manager runs beside it and ships what the mod writes.

| What CFTools used to provide | Where it comes from now | |---|---| | Live board, roster and map | The mod's own player, vehicle and world snapshots | | Activity — kills, raids, sessions, chat | The mod's event log, in the same Activity tabs | | Performance and population charts | The mod's metrics, on the same charts | | Bans | Your own ban list, enforced by the mod at connect | | Priority queue grants | The mod writes the server's own list when it reports it can (current Workshop typically cannot); otherwise the Server Manager | | Whitelist grants | The Server Manager on a box you control | | In-game admin actions | Commands the mod runs, from a catalog it publishes itself |

Why

Three reasons, in the order they mattered:

  • One install instead of an account plus a mod. CFTools was a subscription you paid for, on top of the mods you already ran. Now there is one thing on the game box and it is ours.
  • No rate limit between us and your server. We were a client of somebody else's API, with their quota. The mod talks to us directly.
  • Priority queue and whitelist were CFTools premium features. They are not a Citadel subscription add-on. They still need a box that can write those files: the Server Manager on a machine you control, or a @CitadelAdmin that can add to the list. The current Workshop build on a rented host typically cannot. The hosted store will not sell them rather than take the money. LB Core cosmetics still work.

Getting connected

See Getting started — install the mod, issue a Server ID and key, then either save cloud.json on a rented host or paste them into the Server Manager. About ten minutes.

If you were already connected through CFTools

Your servers were moved across for you — there is nothing to redo. Your bans, player history and activity stayed where they were; players are now keyed on their Steam64 rather than a CFTools id.

If something you remember seeing is missing from a player's record, tell us from Help with the player and roughly when — that is worth a look rather than a shrug.
